ABOUT

Krishna is an Honours Graduate in Music Performance at Melbourne University who has performed extensively around Melbourne, possessing unique artistic presence and insight.
She completed her earlier studies at the Victorian College of the Arts (SS) and traveled to UK on full scholarship to study for a brief period in 2006. There, she worked with Professor Murray McLachlan, and also with the late Professor Mark Ray (RNCM). She has been a recipient of many awards including Lady Turner Exhibition Prize ('07), T Allen McKay Scholarship ('08 & ’10) & the Maude Harrington Accompaniment Prize (08).

Over the years, Krishna has appeared as guest soloist with orchestras including the Melbourne Sinfonia, Grainger Ensemble and Preston Symphony Orchestra, performing concertos by Mozart, Grieg, Rachmaninov & Franck. Her performances also include 3MBS' Beethoven Marathon, 3MBS’s radio Live at the Convent,  RMIT Young Performers Series, Mount Beauty Festival, St. Hilda’s College Marjorie Smart Concert Series, the Austral Salon of Music & Art and at the Historical Rippon Lea Estate. Krishna’s other accolades include MSV Herbert Davis Memorial Award ('07), Clifford Hocking Scholarship ('11).


In 2010, she recorded Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini at the Xing Hai Concert Hall in China in 2010, under the baton of Warwick Stengaards, chief conductor of the Schlossorchester Schoenbrunn in Vienna. In the following year, Krishna worked with noted composer Chloe Charody, performing two seasons of the Circus-Opera The Carnival with an ensemble of prestigious circus artists and musicians at the Stonnington Jazz Festival and Melbourne Fringe Festival. Later in 2015, she co-presented a recital with mezzo singer Stefanie Dingnis in aid of the Nepal Earthquake Fund. 

 

Benjamin and Krishna have been performing duo recitals together since 2011.  They have given premieres to wide acclaim, and have recently performed Martin’s commissioned work 'Echoes of Ancient Voices' as part of Melba Hall's Lunch hour Concert series.  Other performances include 3MBS' Schubert Marathon, Macedon Music Festival, and filming Schubert’s F minor Fantasy as part of a 3MBS documentary for Channel 31.  in 2016, they were invited to perform with Josephine Vains (cello) and William Hennessy (violin), Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.1 for 3MBS' Mendelssohn Marathon.
